I was reading a great article on lifehacker about losing weight. The author, Dion Almaer, wrote about how he approached his weight loss and in the end, lost 100 pounds. He talked about how he changed his mindset on weight loss and dieting. He changed the foods he ate and dropped all the sugary drinks. He made it a way of life, not a diet. He then set out to start running. He didn’t like to run and I know that I HATE to run. But he did it a little at a time. In the end, he lost 100 pounds and looks great.
This is where I’m at…….I need/must lose at least 40 pounds. When I was younger, I had jobs that kept me on my feet. I could eat anything and it had no effect on me. When I married my Wife, I was less than 140 pounds. Today I sit at a desk and have no motivation to exercise. I’m at 235 pounds. I’ve got to get moving and make some changes in my life. I told myself a year ago that I would work on me. I left the corporate world to work for myself and work on me. Well, it’s been a year and I’m still in the same place. The only part of me that I have worked on is my spiritual self. I have found a great church that my Wife and I attend. I finally understand what it takes to be a spiritual person. Now I need to learn what it takes to be a healthy person. I think this is the first step, admitting there is a problem. Now I need to focus on the mentality of eating. Drinking water all day is easy for me, I like water. Giving up the sugars, now that is my weak point. My oldest son is 19 and just graduated. I worry that I won’t see my youngest graduate in 10 years if I don’t make the change.
What have you done to change your life? Are you healthier since you made the changes?
